On September 11th there is a tradition to read the names of each of the victims of the terrorist attack. Today, we are reflecting on one victim- Daniel Lewin who was the first casualty of the coordinated assaults. Born in Denver Daniel grew up in Jerusalem. He served in Special Forces, graduated from Technion University, and later went back to the United States where he earned a PHD from MIT.
He founded a successful high-tech company, and on that fateful day he was traveling on American Airlines Flight 11 from Boston to Los Angeles. Lewin was attacked on the plane by a terrorist, and succumbed to the stabbing. He was survived by his wife Anne and his two sons Eitan and Itamar who were five and eight at the time of the attacks.
In his short life Daniel achieved a great deal. His pain is our pain.
