Israel Update

They Can Burn Our Forests- But They Can’t Dampen Our Spirits

Headlines in the Israeli Press:

  • More Than 60,000 Flee Massive Fires
  • Close to 1,000 families have lost their homes
  • 130,000 Dunam of Woodland Burn in Central Israel- in more than a dozen locations
  • Police Chief and Minister Bennet Point to Terrorist: At Least 17 separate Fires set by Arsonists; 4 Arabs confess, so far
  • Palestinians Cheer: “Burn Babies Too” (G-d forbid)

Are the people of Israel dealing with a new method of terrorism? Will this be a “fire intifada”, a new way of suffering?

Will our children feel a new level of vulnerability?

As the WWII broke out, Rabbi Halberstam of blessed memory, the founder of Lev Lalev Orphanage, was in his Doctors office. Concerned about the fate of the Jewish people the doctor asked what will be your fate and the fate of the Jewish people. The rabbi responded without hesitation, “I don’t know what will become of me, but for sure the Jewish people will survive “

Rabbi Halberstam, lost his wife and 11 children in the ashes of Auschwitz and Dachu. After he miraculously survived, he remarried and built a new family and a community in Israel, which included a world class hospital, and the Lev Lalev Orphanage in Netanya.

It is this fortitude which propels us to overcome adversities. It is the power of prayer and our good deeds coupled with the help we receive from caring people everywhere which gives us the strength to say: “They can Burn our Forests- But we shall remain Strong”

Am Yisroel Chai- We pray- we Rebuild- we plan for a stronger and more secure future.

Thank you for all you do for our girls at Lev Lalev and for making Lev Lalev your personal connection to Israel.
