Humpty Dumpy

Yesterday my daughter Devorah and granddaughter Yehudis visited Kever Rochel( tomb of Rachel) in honor of Yehudis’ upcoming Bat Mitzvah .As they were about to board the bus to return home, the police stationed at this holy site in Beit Lechem (Bethlehem) commanded all the civilians to get up against the wall. Fortunately there was no incident of violence and it was just a precautionary measure.

Before they arrive at the Lev Lalev Orphanage and group home many of our girls are” up against the wall”as well. They feel closed in and without options; they feel insecure and they are sad. Our task at Lev Lalev is to build back each girl’s self esteem to insure that they don’t feel up against the wall.

I was thinking about the old English nursery rhyme earlier this morning.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall

Humpty Dumpy had a great fall

All the kings’ horses and all the kings’ men.

Couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

That was until all the staff at Lev Lalev worked tirelessly on each girl.

Until each and every one of them became a productive and shining   pearl.

 Have a positive day,
