Be Strong

Six weeks ago at the beginning of the Hebrew month of Elul, we began the Yom Naorim season- the High Holidays. We prepared ourselves to do Teshuvah (repentance) for our shortcomings and sins. Throughout the holidays, we prayed that Hashem should forgive us and provide us with a year of much bracha- an abundance of blessings.

This past week, this period of repentance concluded. And then we celebrated!
On Simchas Torah we joyfully danced and sang, and each of us made a personal bracha on the Torah itself. It was a day of great adulation as we completed the Torah cycle and began again. As we did, we declared in unison Chazak Chazak V’nischazek. Be strong and we should be strengthened for the future.

This is a great celebrative moment (which we observe annually) and it very much parallels our work at Lev Lalev. We take our girls through a process of self reflection, help them improve, build their self esteem, and then we prepare them for a successful future. We celebrate with them at their Bat Mitzvahs, birthdays, graduations, engagements, and marriages.

At Lev Lalev we are motivated by two concepts which are connected. Firstly, each girl deserves to be treated with love and kindness. Secondly, we do this by providing our girls with something we call “healthy living”. Healthy living is driven by the Talmudic concept of Lifnai Meshuras Hadin “giving more than the basics”. This is why we work with each girl in providing her with nutritious eating, dance and gym, music and art, and homework helpers.
Your support and kindness has helped each girl successfully reach a new milestone.

So let’s celebrate and proclaim together: Girls- we are with you: Be strong you have a bright future!
